Executive board meeting- June 1, 2006
Present: Anne McKeig, Jim Appleby, Laura Floistad, Barb Isaacman, Therese Lockwood, Bob Sorenson, Jeanne Werenicz, Kelly Charles, Cliff Poehler, Steve Marincel
Excused: Burdorf, Sweasy, Halla, Isaacman, Furnstahl, Krenz
Steward Report:
- In the process of grieving a written reprimand, currently at step 2 in the process. Steve and the steward will work on improving the current offer.
New Business:
- There is a leadership conference on June 16 and 17 in St. Paul. Leaders from local unions are encouraged to attend.
- This upcoming Saturday there is a meeting where someone from the National Committee will be present talking about the union’s plans for the 21rst century. Someone from the local should attend.
- There is an upcoming meeting for the labor/management health care committee. There will be an important discussion on the health care savings plan. Someone should attend to gather more information to pass along to members. The entire bargaining unit would have to vote and if accepted all members would have to be enrolled in the plan.
- On July 23 rd there is a Hennepin County AFSCME Policy Committee meeting. It is a social event, picnic at North Mississippi Park. There is a request for donations from the local unions.
- Motion to pay for ten gift certificates at $29.38 per certificate, motion modified to five gift certificates at $29.38- motion carried and approved for five gift certificates @ $29.38 per certificate.
- Constitutional amendment has been submitted.
- Discussion regarding having printed copies of the current contract. Jim will inquire on the cost of printing.
- Management is having a budget retreat on Friday, June 2 nd. If members have budget ideas they are to pass that information onto their supervisors.
- The International convention is coming up in Chicago. Charles nominated Poehler to go, motion to authorize payment up to $2000.00 for expenses for Poehler to attend conference. Motion passed.
- Union received thank you card from Jamie Cork for the recent donation of money as a result of her house fire.
