Union Meeting- March 3, 2006  

 

Present:   Kelly Charles, Paul Maravigli, Mark Chastine, Mike Furnstahl, Anne McKeig, Jim Appleby, Laura Floistad, Clifford Poehler, Amy Sweasy, John Halla, Jean Burdorf, Bob Sorenson

 

 

Steward Report:

An attorney in the public defenders office is facing disciplinary action.   There will be an investigation meeting.

-a non-attorney in the County Attorney’s office is having an investigation meeting.

 

New Business:

 

-Public Defenders contract approved by County Board.

- There are four seats up on the County Board of Commissioners, Opat, Stenglein, Dorfman and McGlaughlin.   The Council has endorsed McGlaughlin, Stenglein and Dorfman.

- AFSME Day on the hill was very successful- over 800 people participated.

- County budget will be short 22 million dollars as a result of federal cuts in funding.

- Precinct caucus are Wed, March 8 th, encourage people to attend.

 

Last months minutes- adopted and passed.

 

Treasures report:

 

Trustee’s Lennon and Holly completed the audit- all accounts looked good- only off by $1.00 in total.

 

Motion to approve Trustee’s report- carried and approved.  

No other treasurer report

 

Motion to give $500.00 to member Carmen Kyro as a support gift as her husband has been in a major car accident.

 

Old Business:  

-discussion regarding letter to editor by President Appleby and response by Bev Benson.  

-motion to put E Board response to Benson letter on the local’s website-
